Gender Sensitization Workshop

District Education and Training Institute (DIET) Chiri organized a workshop on gender sensitization for students and teachers of Kasturba Gandhi Girls’ Residential School Senha, and Jharkhand Girls’ Residential School Peshraar Lohardaga on 12.02.24.

The workshop was organized by the members of DIET and resource persons from Piramal Foundation. The selection of this school was specifically organized to enhance the understanding of sexual awareness among studious girls.

The workshop primarily aimed at enhancing scientific perspectives on sexual awareness, social aspects of gender, and sharing students’ attitudes. During classroom teaching, emphasis was placed on how teachers can bring changes on this subject according to the emotional state of children. Activity-based exercises on these topics were also conducted among the 147 students present.

The children were feeling quite enthusiastic and energetic about this program. There is also hope for positive changes among the teachers through this program. The workshop, guided by the Principal of DIET Chiri, Abhishek Badai, was facilitated by Headmistress Amrita Sinha, members of the institute Ravishankar Kumar, Shyam Bihari Mahato, Vijay Baitha, Mahboob Alam, and Lalita Kumari, in addition to Piramal Foundation’s Priyanka Kumari, Soumya, Warden Poonam Kumari, and teachers’ significant contributions.
