School Health and Wellness

Under the School Health and Wellness Program, a four-day non-residential training of health ambassadors was conducted. The conclusion of the four-day training of health ambassadors under the School Health and Wellness Program, organized by the District Education and Training Institute (DIET) Cheery under the auspices of Ayushman Bharat, took place on March 15, 2024. Technical support for this program was provided by the Center for Catalyzing Change (C3).

On this occasion, Pawan Kumar Gupta, a representative of C3, elaborated on the program, highlighting the activities to be undertaken and sensitizing participants to pertinent issues. It was mentioned that as part of this program, each school would conduct two-hour sessions per week on 11 modules from the central government and 5 from the state government, along with online reporting through Google.

Under the guidance of DIET Principal Abhishek Bardaik, a total of 117 health ambassadors were trained in this program.

The institute’s acting principal, Mrs. Amrita Sinha, urged all health ambassadors to implement this program at the school level. Each school had one male and one female teacher participating in the training, where they were equipped with information regarding physical, mental, social, and life skills of adolescents, aiming to empower them to become self-reliant.

During the program, topics such as child marriage, healthy lifestyles, violence and safety, the negative impacts of the internet and social media, dowry practices, human trafficking, road safety, menstruation and reproductive health, and health check-ups for children at the school level were presented vividly through short skits by the trainers.

The success of the aforementioned program was attributed to the significant roles played by trainers Neeti Lakda, Vinay Kumar, Rashmi Kujur, Shobhit Tirki, Satish Chandra Uranv, Sajid Ansari, Jayprakash Sahu, Arun Kumar Das, and Lalita Kumari.

DIET’s acting principal, Mrs. Amrita Sinha, along with members of the coordination committee Ravi Shankar Kumar, Shyam Bihari Mahato, Vijay Baitha, Mahboob Alam, and Lalita Kumari, as well as Pawan Kumar Gupta from C3, contributed significantly to making the training program effective.
